DAY 1 – Depart the UK

Depart the UK on your chosen flight to Boston. Upon arrival, collect your AlamoGold rental car and proceed to your hotel.

DAY 2 – Boston

Explore the Freedom Trail, shop at Quincy Market, take a whale watch cruise, enjoy a ride on the Swanboats in the Public Gardens or take a dinner cruise on Boston Harbour.

DAY 3 – Mid Coast Maine

Driving distance: 125 miles/201 km

Travel along the north shore of Massachusetts, through coastal Maine. Visit the summer communities of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport, seasonal home to former US President George Bush. Continue along the coast to arrive early evening in Freeport.

DAYS 4 & 5 – White Mountains

Driving distance: 80 miles/129 km

Journey through the Maine Lakes region on your way to the White Mountains. Stop at North Conway, a shopper’s paradise with countless factory outlets. You could also take a ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad. The Mt Washington toll road takes you to the summit of one of the east’s highest mountains.

DAYS 6 & 7 – Green Mountains

Driving distance: 126 miles/203 km

Travel the Kancamagus Highway to Lincoln. Travel south for a side trip to Lake Winnipesaukee. Entering Vermont on your way to the Green Mountains, stop at Quechee Gorge, Vermont’s mini Grand Canyon, for breathtaking views. Stop in the village of Woodstock with its traditional shops and covered bridge. The grand Woodstock Inn offers a classic setting for afternoon tea, then it’s on to Stowe.

DAY 8 – Berkshire Hills

Driving distance: 156 miles/251 km

Travel to Rutland, once centre to the Vermont marble industry. Stop in quaint Manchester Village on your way to the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. Visit the Hancock Shaker Village, one of the last Shaker settlements. Continue on to Lenox, summer home to the Boston Symphony and Stockbridge, once home to Norman Rockwell. Your accommodation this evening is in the university town of Williamstown.

DAY 9 – Cape Cod

Driving distance: 203 miles/327 km

The choice is yours, spend time exploring Old Sturbridge Village, a living 19th century museum, or head into America’s smallest state, Rhode Island, and visit Newport, the summer resort of America’s first millionaires. Then it’s off to coastal Cape Cod.

DAYS 10 & 11 – Cape Cod

Cape Cod, with its white sandy beaches and abundance of attractions, is one of the most popular parts of Massachusetts. We have included another two nights on the Cape to ensure you have time to relax and see the sights. Take a whale watch cruise, visit the port town of Hyannis and colourful, artistic Provincetown.

DAY 12 – Return to the UK

Driving distance: 75 miles/120 km

En route to the airport visit Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth, a living museum depicting life in 1627. Travel on to Boston, return your car rental and check in for your flight back to the UK.
