DAY 1 – Depart the UK

Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Calgary. Upon arrival, collect your rental car and proceed to your hotel, where you will be based for the next three nights.

OVERNIGHT: Delta Bow Valley

DAYS 2 & 3 – Calgary

Today is free to explore the city at leisure. Calgary offers a mixture of historic and modern highlights, fabulous shopping and world renowned dining. Visit Chinatown, Centennial Planetarium and Olympic Park, home of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games, then travel back in time and discover western Canada prior to 1914 at the Heritage Park Historical Village.

DAYS 4 & 5 – Banff

Driving distance: 80 miles/130 km

A short drive brings you to Canada’s oldest national park – Banff. A paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, it offers a wide range of activities to suit every taste including rafting, hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Keep your eyes open and your camera ready for the variety of wildlife you will see along the way. Try and make time for some sightseeing, including a visit to the Cave and Basin, Bow Falls and the thrilling gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain.

DAY 6 – Lake Louise

Driving distance: 47 miles/75 km

Today’s drive takes you through stunning Bow Valley to the ’Jewel of the Rockies’. Lake Louise is breathtaking, with its spectacular emerald coloured waters and backdrop of Victoria Glacier; in fact, it is said to be Canada’s most photographed lake. Visit charming Lake Louise village, filled with quaint boutique shops, and take the chairlift up Whitehorn Mountain for a spectacular bird’s eye view.

DAYS 7 & 8 – Jasper

Driving distance: 143 miles/230 km

Prepare for one of the most scenic drives you will ever take as you journey via the spectacular Icefields Parkway. En route, visit Peyto Lake. Once at Columbia Icefield, the only way to experience this mammoth glacier is by snocoach, a truly thrilling expedition. A concoction of serene lakes, beautiful meadows and spectacular glaciers makes up Jasper National Park. Take a boat cruise on Maligne Lake, visit Miette Hot Springs or ride the Jasper Tramway; there’s an array of activities waiting to be discovered. This evening, return your hire car to the depot.

DAY 9 – Rocky Mountaineer

Today you will start your breathtaking journey from Jasper through the Rocky Mountains to Kamloops in central British Columbia. As you journey west, you are surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Continental Divide and by the river valleys of the Monashee and Cariboo Mountains. Watch out for North Thomson River and Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Rockies at 3,954 metres. On arrival in Kamloops, you will disembark and check into your hotel for the evening.

DAY 10 – Rocky Mountaineer

Your rail journey continues this morning towards the Pacific Ocean and your final destination of Vancouver. The scenery changes from a desert-like environment to green lush fields via winding river canyons and forests. Marvel at the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thomson River, the beauty of the Fraser River Valley and the pounding waters of Hells Gate at Fraser Canyon. Arriving early evening, transfer independently to your hotel where you will spend the next three nights.

OVERNIGHT: Metropolitan Vancouver

DAYS 11 & 12 – Vancouver

A wonderful, cosmopolitan city, Vancouver has great shopping, fine dining and an array of sightseeing options. Visit MacMillan Planetarium, Chinatown, Gastown and the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge. You may choose to spend an afternoon at sprawling Stanley Park, down at the beach or shopping on Robson Street.

OVERNIGHT: Metropolitan Vancouver

DAY 13 – Return to the UK

Time for some last minute shopping or sightseeing before making your own way back to Vancouver Airport, where you check in for your flight back to the UK.
