DAY 1 – Depart the UK

Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Atlanta. Upon arrival, collect your AlamoGold rental car and proceed to your hotel.

DAY 2 – Atlanta

Both historically interesting and full of great attractions, Atlanta has a great deal to offer its visitors. Visit Stone Mountain Park, tour the Coca Cola Museum and tour the CNN Centre, where you can see a newscast being prepared and broadcast.

DAY 3 – Chattanooga

Driving distance: 116 miles/186 km

A short drive takes you over the state line into the musically influenced state of Tennessee. Chattanooga’s most well known landmark is the famous Choo Choo Train, the engine and car of which can still be viewed. Rock City Gardens, the Tennessee Aquarium and Ruby Falls are also great ways to spend the afternoon.

DAYS 4 & 5 – Nashville

Driving distance: 133 miles/213 km

A short drive brings you to Nashville – home of Country Music. There is so much to see and do that we have included a two night stay. Ride the General Jackson Showboat along the Cumberland River, visit historic Ryman Auditorium; the original home of the Grand Ole Opry, enjoy line dancing at the Wildhorse Saloon and if you get chance sample the great shopping at Opry Mills.

DAYS 6 & 7 – Memphis

Driving distance: 212 miles/339 km

From one music town to another, this time it’s Memphis, the birthplace of Rock ’n’ Roll and home of the Blues. You may choose to visit Mud Island, a 52 acre park which showcases the Mississippi River and is home to the Memphis Belle, or tour the Rock and Soul Museum, but no visit would be complete without experiencing Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion.

DAY 8 – Natchez

Driving distance: 310 miles/496 km

Although quite a long drive today, it is a beautifully scenic one down through the state of Mississippi. Follow the Natchez Trace Parkway, an ancient path traversed by traders and Indians. Once in Natchez we suggest visits to see the pre-Civil War mansions built by the cotton farmers and perhaps taking a nostalgic tour in a horse drawn carriage.

DAY 9 – Lafayette

Driving distance: 140 miles/224 km

Today takes you to the heart of Cajun Country to Lafayette. Learn about the Cajun culture at Acadian Village, a restored bayou town which illustrates the lifestyle of the Arcadians in the early 19th century.

DAYS 10 & 11 – New Orleans

Driving distance: 140 miles/224 km

Drive along the Mississippi River today to New Orleans. Now we arrive at our third music city, home to jazz and the lively Bourbon Street. The ’Big Easy’, with its French influences is very historic and wonderfully scenic. Enjoy a cruise on the river, tour Jackson Square and Bayou St John, and feast on tempting Creole cuisine.

DAYS 12 & 13 – Destin

Driving distance: 250 miles/400 km

Travelling along the Gulf Coast today brings you to the Florida Panhandle. Take time to stop off in some of the pretty seaside towns and historic port cities along the way, before arriving at the coastal town of Destin. This is a great beach location and a perfect time to relax and reflect on all the destinations you have visited so far.

DAY 14 – Montgomery

Driving distance: 214 miles/345 km

Drive north into the pretty state of Alabama and on to the state’s historic capital Montgomery. Visit the dramatic Civil Rights Memorial inscribed with Dr Martin Luther King’s ’I have a dream’ speech and the names of many who gave their lives for freedom. The landscape is scattered with plantation homes, some open for you to view how life used to be in the Deep South.

DAY 15 – Return to the UK

Driving distance: 160 miles/258 km

There is time for some last minute shopping or sightseeing before making your way back to Atlanta Airport, where you return your hire car and check in for the flight back to the UK.
