Driver Requirement

Drivers must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's licence. A major credit card and passport are required for identification prior to rental. There are no charges for additional, qualified drivers but all must be listed on, and sign, the rental contract. Cruise America cannot provide child or infant seats.

Pick up Times

Motorhomes cannot be collected on arrival into North America after an international or long domestic flight; an overnight prior to pick up is complusory. Except in respect of 'Early Bird Departures' and the additional supplement paid for a morning departure privilege, vehicles can be collected between 1pm and 4pm. Transfers are not included.

Damage Deposit

A minimum damage deposit of US$500/CAD$500 and estimated additional/non prepaid rental charges, including mileage estimates are payable at pick up by credit card. Credit card deposits are processed at departure.

Familiarisation Tour

A tour of the vehicles and its working parts (approx 25 minutes) is required to acquaint you with the operation of the vehicle before departure. This tour is only given during office hours.

Drop off Times

Normal vehicle return time is in the morning between 9am and 11am. Returns after 11am may be subject to a late return fee. If you booked the 'Early Bird Departure', you are entitled to return your motorhome by 3pm.

Depot Hours

Depot hours are generally 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday, however they can vary by location and season. All depots are closed on Sundays and public holidays.

One Way rental charges

$50 within Florida (except to Miami $100).
$200 from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
$100 from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
$750 between Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, New York, Newark, Washington DC or Philadelphia and the rest of the USA.
$750 between the rest of the USA (except Las Vegas and Phoenix) and California depots, Portland or Seattle.
$500 between the rest of USA (except California depots, Portland and Seattle) and Las Vegas or Phoenix.
$750 to or from Anchorage
$375 between Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Newark, Washington DC or Philadelphia.
$375 all other USA one ways.
CAD$750 all Canadian locations to Vancouver.
CAD$500 from Toronto or Montreal to Calgary. CAD$750 to or from Whitehorse or Halifax.
CAD$375 all other Canadian one ways.
One ways are not permitted between USA and Canada.

Early Bird Departures

Take advantage of the opportunity of being 'first in line'. Vehicle departure starts at 9am and is completed by no later than noon for Early Bird Departure clients. You can also return the vehicle up to 3pm on the 'drop off' day rather than in the morning. Transfer from an to designated hotels are also included for Early Bird Departure clients. This facility must be booked at least 30 days in advance of collection. Restrictions apply at certain depots.

Rental Restrictions

Each rental must be for a minimum period of seven nights and a maximum of 35 nights. Vehicles cannot be driven on non-public or unpaved roads, underground (due to propane regulations), into Manhattan or Mexico. Failure to comply will invalidate your insurance Travellers Assistance Hotline is available for mechanical concerns during your retnal.

Mileage Packages

Mileage can be pre-purchased in order to save you money. It is advised that you estimate the mileage you are likely to cover and pre-book a 'block' before you travel. For travel in the USA, 500 prepaid miles cost £95 plus tax, for travel in Canada 800 prepaid kilometers cost £140 plus tax. Unlimted mileage packages are also available. Unused mileage is non-refundable.

Prices shown on this page are standard motorhome rental and insurance only. We appreciate that it is not always clear which items you need to pre-book and what extras you may have to pay for locally. We suggest you include the following:
Insurance
Statutory liability protection, auto liability coverage, and vehicle damage are included in all rentals. All rentals also include supplement liability insurance up to $1000,000.
Vehicle Departure and Provision Kits
These include cooking and eating untensils, toilet chemicals, KOA (Kampground of America) card and directory.
Personal Kits
These include towels, pillows, sheets etc.
Mileage Package
500 miles in USA and 800 km in Canada.
Local Taxes
On all items which have been prepaid.

What's payable locally?

Damage deposit, fuel, generator use, one way drop off charges, extra mileage, any additional insurances and local sales tax on all items.
