Renowned as the country music capital of the world, Nashville is awash with wonderful attractions which are a delight to explore even if you’re not a country music fan. Explore the historic and music-filled downtown, perhaps aboard the Music City Trolley Hop On/Hop Off Tour. Be sure to visit the home of the Grand Ole Opry which is now staged at Opryland, and its old home the Ryman Auditorium. The Country Music Hall of Fame features more than 40,000sq feet of country music artefacts, showcasing the history of country music from the legends of yesteryear to today’s chart toppers. Head to the Nashville Zoo or Adventure Science Center for family fun, or enjoy a stroll around Hillsboro Village, where quirky shops, boutiques and restaurants can be found.

DAYS 4, 5 & 6 – MEMPHIS

It’s a short flight across Tennessee to the home of the blues, the birthplace of rock ’n’ roll and the starting point of soul; the music city of Memphis. There are many attractions to fill your days, but some you simply shouldn’t miss. Take time to visit the Rock ’n’ Soul Museum documenting the history of music and its association with Tennessee, and Sun Studio where Elvis recorded much of his early work. No visit to Memphis would be complete without exploring Graceland, the legendary home of Elvis Presley. The memorabilia museum, Lisa Marie private jet and Elvis’ grave are must sees for any fan of ’The King’. In a city such as Memphis there are many choices for evening entertainment, however legendary Beale Street boasts a fantastic atmosphere, live blues music and tasty Cajun cuisine.

The exotic city of New Orleans is the cultural heart of Louisiana and the birthplace of jazz. With influences from Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and beyond, you’ll find a melting pot of culture, food and music. Head to the historic French Quarter where Jackson Square is filled with musicians, artists and street entertainers. Taste the famous coffees and pastries at Café du Monde, wander the boutique shops and visit the historic French Market for souvenirs. A trip to Mardi Gras World offers a fabulous insight into the intricate preparations which are undertaken when creating the floats for the many city festivals.
